Probably one of the most well know and recognizable tunes in erhu repertory, Erquan was a piece written by folk musician Hua Yanjun, or Blind man Abing. The melancholic rendition is an expression and reflection on China’s old society where life was hard, the future seemed bleak, and a society afflicted by cultural and economic malaise.
